Comfortable. Monitored. Asleep.
For patients who require a deeper level of sedation than oral, IV, or nitrous oxide can provide, we offer deep sedation administered by a licensed dental anesthesiologist. This level of sedation is ideal for complex procedures, high dental anxiety, or medical conditions that make it difficult to tolerate treatment while awake.
What Is Deep Sedation?
Deep sedation places you in a state of near-unconsciousness. You are not fully awake, but not completely unconscious like in general anesthesia. You will be unable to respond to commands, and you may not remember any part of the procedure. Your vital signs are continuously monitored to ensure your safety.
Administered by a Licensed Dental Anesthesiologist
This advanced form of sedation is delivered and monitored by a board-certified dental anesthesiologist who remains present throughout the procedure. Their sole focus is your comfort and safety, allowing Dr. Sakhai to focus entirely on your treatment.
Ideal Candidates for Deep Sedation
- Patients with severe dental anxiety or phobia
- Patients with complex surgical needs (multiple implants, full-mouth surgery, etc.)
- Patients who have difficulty getting numb
- Individuals with special healthcare needs
- Those who prefer to have no memory of the procedure
What to Expect
- A preoperative consultation with Dr. Sakhai and the anesthesiologist to review your medical history and determine suitability.
- On the day of your procedure, you’ll receive an IV sedative and be gently guided into a deep sleep-like state.
- Throughout treatment, your heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and breathing are closely monitored.
- After the procedure, you’ll wake up gradually in a recovery area and need a responsible adult to drive you home.
- Recovery from deep sedation may take several hours.
Safety First
Your safety is our top priority. Our anesthesiologists use hospital-grade monitoring equipment and follow the highest standards of care. We only proceed with deep sedation after thorough screening and preparation.
