Dental Implants

A Permanent Solution for a Natural-Looking Smile
If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental implants offer a long-lasting, comfortable, and natural-looking solution. Unlike bridges or dentures, implants are anchored securely in the jawbone, helping restore both function and confidence.

1

What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. Over time, the implant fuses with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration, creating a strong foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture.

Once healed, the implant is restored with a custom-made tooth that matches your smile beautifully. Implants not only replace missing teeth—they help prevent bone loss and maintain the shape of your face and jaw.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

  • Look, feel, and function like natural teeth
  • Preserve jawbone health by preventing bone deterioration
  • No impact on surrounding teeth, unlike traditional bridges
  • Stable and secure—no slipping like removable dentures
  • Long-term solution, often lasting decades with proper care

Who Is a Candidate?
Most adults in good health with sufficient bone density are candidates for dental implants. If you’ve lost bone due to gum disease or a missing tooth, we may recommend bone grafting to rebuild the area before placing the implant. We’ll perform a full evaluation using digital imaging and a clinical exam to determine if implants are right for you.

What to Expect from the Process
Dental implant treatment typically occurs in two main phases:

  1. Surgical Placement
Each dental implant is carefully planned, often with the help of 3D imaging like a CBCT scan, and precisely placed into the jawbone in our office using local anesthesia or sedation if needed. Over the next few months, the implant naturally fuses with your bone, creating a strong and lasting foundation for your new tooth.
  2. Restoration
Once healing is complete, your general dentist will attach a custom-made crown or bridge to complete your smile. Our office will coordinate closely with your general dentist or restorative specialist throughout the process providing reports along the way to ensure seamless care.

The Role of CBCT Imaging in Implant Dentistry
To ensure the safest and most precise outcome, we use Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging during your implant planning. CBCT provides a 3D view of your teeth, jawbone, sinuses, nerves and surrounding structures. This allows us to:

  • Assess bone quality and quantity
  • Identify vital anatomical landmarks (such as nerves and sinuses)
  • Precisely plan the angulation and position of each implant
  • Reduce risk and enhance long-term success

CBCT technology allows us to tailor your treatment to your unique anatomy, offering greater predictability and peace of mind.

Common Questions

Does getting a dental implant hurt?
Most patients are surprised by how little discomfort they feel after surgery. We use gentle techniques and offer sedation if needed. Some swelling or soreness is normal and resolves in a few days.

How long do implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, implants can last many decades—or even a lifetime.

What if I’ve been missing a tooth for years?
We may recommend bone grafting or other supportive procedures to make sure the area is healthy enough for an implant. We’ll guide you through your best options.
