Cone Beam CT (CBCT) 3D Imaging

Advanced Imaging for Precision Periodontal and Implant Care
At our practice, we use Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to provide advanced 3D imaging that enhances accuracy, safety, and outcomes in periodontal and implant treatment. This powerful technology allows us to visualize your teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures in stunning detail—information that’s simply not possible with standard dental X-rays.

What Is CBCT?
CBCT is a specialized type of digital imaging that creates a three-dimensional view of the head and neck. It provides highly detailed information about bone anatomy, nerve pathways, sinuses, and tooth structure—all in a single, quick scan. Unlike traditional medical CT scans, CBCT uses a much lower dose of radiation and is designed specifically for dental and maxillofacial use.

When Is CBCT Recommended?

CBCT imaging is an essential tool in planning and delivering complex dental procedures. We may recommend a CBCT scan for:

  • Dental implant planning
  • Bone graft evaluation
  • Periodontal disease assessment
  • Detection of cysts, lesions, or infections
  • Wisdom tooth and impacted tooth evaluation
  • Assessment of jaw joint (TMJ) issues

CBCT allows for precise diagnosis and treatment planning, reducing the risk of complications and improving surgical outcomes.

What to Expect During the Scan
The scan is quick, comfortable, and non-invasive. You’ll stand or sit still for less than 20 seconds while the CBCT machine rotates around your head. There are no injections or special preparations required, and you can return to normal activities immediately after the scan.

Why CBCT Matters
The more we can see, the better we can plan. CBCT empowers us to provide more predictable, minimally invasive care by revealing anatomical details that standard X-rays may miss. This means fewer surprises during surgery, shorter procedures, and faster healing for you.

Safety and Radiation Dose
We understand concerns about radiation exposure. CBCT uses a focused, low-dose beam, and the scan is localized to the area of interest. When used appropriately, CBCT is a safe and valuable diagnostic tool that enhances your overall care.
