Digital X- Ray

1

Low Exposure Digital X-Rays
At our practice, your safety is just as important as your oral health. That’s why we use advanced digital X-ray technology that delivers high-resolution images while significantly reducing your exposure to radiation.

Why We Use Digital X-Rays
Digital radiography allows us to detect dental conditions that may not be visible during a routine clinical exam—such as bone loss, infections, root fractures, and periodontal defects. With enhanced clarity and precision, we can diagnose problems earlier and provide more effective treatment plans.

Minimal Radiation, Maximum Safety
Our low-dose digital X-ray system emits up to 80–90% less radiation than traditional film-based X-rays. The actual radiation dose is extremely low—comparable to what you receive from a few hours of natural background exposure in your daily environment.

For comparison:

  • One bitewing X-ray delivers about 5 µSv
  • Four bitewings = ~20 µSv
  • A day of background radiation = 8–10 µSv

In other words, four bitewings give you about the same radiation as one or two days of normal life. We also take extra precautions, including the use of lead aprons and thyroid collars when appropriate.

Patient Benefits

  • Sharper, high-contrast images for improved diagnostic accuracy
  • Instant viewing—no waiting for film to develop
  • Environmentally friendly—no chemicals or waste
  • Easily stored and shared with specialists or referring providers

Your Comfort Comes First
We understand that some patients may have concerns about X-rays. Rest assured, we take every step to use the lowest dose possible while gathering the essential information needed to support your periodontal health.
